It's been a wild, wild week!

Wow! The last week has been intense, and really exciting! We're still more than a week away from the actual opening of the Festival, but the excitement has been building like you wouldn't believe.

Monday was the CFS Members Preview Party at the House of Blues, and that was an incredible night! I got there before the event was officially supposed to open, thinking I'd beat the crowd, but a whole bunch of you had gotten there ahead of me! All of the chairs in the Cambridge Room were already taken, and that room does not lack for chairs! Half an hour later, when the preview reel started, the place was packed and there was incredible energy running through it. The preview reel was spectacular, and I found myself flipping through my program guide to circle every single film in it. And I really loved hearing everybody laugh the way I did, when the Festival teasers played.

I'd like to thank Keith for commenting on my last post to tell us all just how cool the Akron Preview Party was. It's wonderful to know that the event went off so well and was enjoyed so much. And thank you too, Scott, for your comment! I'm really sorry to hear you missed the Pittsburgh preview party, because I'd have loved to hear what you thought of it.

For those of you in the Columbus area, WCBE is co-sponsoring another Preview Party, which will be on Tuesday, March 6th at Havana! From 5:30 to 7:30 you can join Clay Lowe of the award-winning "Movie Time" and other great guests, and join all of the fun. Email our office with "RSVP Columbus" in your subject line, and we'll be expecting you!

One more really cool thing -- we've been getting Confessions in from everybody, and they're great!

Your Confessions So Far:
  • I love when my girlfriend takes me to see romantic movies, although I act otherwise.
  • I like to throw popcorn at people. :)
  • I'll never stop liking the movie "Clueless."
  • I borrow movies from the library and I don't watch them.
  • I re-enact movie scenes like the chic from "Saturday Night Live"-- Mary Catherine Gallagher. :)
  • We have gone to as many as three movies in a day and six-eight in a weekend!
  • I like to go to the theater and see two for the price of one.
  • Chickflicks.
  • I LOVE Jerry Lewis Films.
  • I sneak in my own snacks to theaters.
  • The "Jurassic Park" Trilogy-- Jeff Goldbloom is God.
  • I like to watch people get really into the movie while undressing them with my eyes.
  • Foreign films from the developing world, watched while sipping martinis and eating chocolate.
  • I love doing it alone and I love the silent type.
  • I've seen Star Wars way too many times in the theater.
  • I quote "When Harry Met Sally" in everyday conversation.
  • I dress up like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz every so often!
  • This is my first encounter with the Cleveland Film Festival.
  • Sometimes I rest my eyes and just listen to the 5th film of the day at the Festival.
  • Go to movies during the work day and put my feet up on the seat in front of me---life on the edge!
  • I love feeling like it's my space-- I put my legs over the seat in front of me, take a sip of my Guinness and let the film transport me!
  • I loved Mulholland Drive for all the right reasons and, more importantly, for all the wrong ones.
  • I've watched "Aliens" at least 30 times all the day through.
  • Titanic--that takes some guts to admit!
  • I don't like musicals!
  • I have withdrawal if I don't see at least a film a week. I'm hooked like drugs-- but it costs a lot less and includes popcorn!
  • Gulp...westerns...
  • There are times and films that have more meaning to me than real life!
  • I have watched a Steven Segal film.
  • Godfather in bed.
  • I'm a sucker for Tom Cruise.
  • I use a butt pillow.
  • Watching anything with Barbara Streisand in the dark.
These are fantastic, so keep them coming, and I'll keep posting them!

Scott Trampus:

It is fun, in an intense way, to read the Schedule, plan a day of film viewing and check other websites for reviews of films that have been previewed elsewhere. From my Pittsburgh perspective, I plan to come in and see four films on Saturday March 17.
An exciting note for those that live here, The Rape of Europa will actually be part of Pittsburgh's Jewish Film festival going on concurrently. It is the only film at both festivals, but I was excited to have that option to see it here.

janbo:

And we happened to be the very fortunate & lucky winners at the Akron Preview party of the grand prize of two directors' passes. We cannot wait to use them! See you Thursday night!
