Well, the 4:00 round has now been seated, and it's time to look ahead to the busiest round of our night.
First, I want to start off with a reminder about how Stand-By works. When a film is on Stand-By, all of the presale tickets have been sold, but the show isn't actually sold out yet. An hour before the screening is scheduled to start, the Stand-By Lounge will begin selling numbered Stand-By tickets to the movie. Fifteen minutes before the screening is scheduled to begin, once all of the Passholders and ticket-holders have taken their seats, our staff counts up the number of empty seats remaining, and begins to let in Stand-By ticket holders in numerical order. They will continue to do so until the theater is full, at which point, anyone left in the Stand-By line will receive a refund of their ticket price.
There are two important things to remember, whether or not you already have a ticket:
1. If you have a pass, or a ticket, please be in your seat fifteen minutes before the screening, so that our staff won't accidentally think your seat is available. We'd like to avoid the awkwardness of offering someone a seat that turns out to be occupied whenever possible.
2. If you didn't buy a ticket yet, please come early. The closer you are to the front of the line, the better your chances are of getting in. Also, if you're part of a large group that's buying Stand-By tickets, please already have a plan for who will and won't go in if we're unable to accommodate your entire group. If that happens, you'll only have a minute or two to work that out on the spot before the film actually begins.
We're going to do everything we possibly can to get everyone seated, but we can't make any guarantees once something goes on Stand-By. These tips will help you have the best chances, and the best time, that you can. This is very important for the 7:00 round, because three of the six films have gone on Stand-By so far.
Now, here's what's coming up in our round:
We're starting off at 6:45 with showings of Exodus and The First Saturday in May, which will have a Filmmaker Q&A at its conclusion. As of this morning, The First Saturday in May has gone onto Stand-By.
Then at 7:00, we'll start screening Battle in Seattle and Teddybear. Again, we have a Stand-By: Teddybear went on the list yesterday.
We'll be finishing out the round with 7:15 showings of Unspeakable, which is having its world premiere and which will have a Filmmaker Q&A after its conclusion, and The Substitute, which has now gone onto Stand-By.
As you can see, things are going to be very busy, and the theater is going to be very congested. So make sure you come early and that you're prepared for the crowd. It's going to be impressive... if not intimidating... but with your help, we should be able to manage it all just fine.
