| In addition to the main Festival program, there are special
film sections that add interest and diversity to the overall Festival and
help attendees navigate the offerings. These special categories include:
10% Cinema: This collection of some of the world’s best gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender films is presented with the generous support of The Milton and Tamar Maltz Family Foundation. American Independents: This year’s competition celebrating independent films made in the United States will, once again, yield a $2,500 cash prize winner, determined by audience vote. Cinema en Español: Thanks again to sponsorship by Cleveland State University, this category pulls together a wonderful collection of Spanish language films. Family Films: This sidebar is back from its hiatus thanks to sponsorship by Pinxav. These films are enjoyable for the entire family. Be sure to bring the kids (we recommend ages ten and older)! It's Easy Being Green: A new sidebar this year, this selection of films, sponsored by Great Lakes Brewing Company, supports the environmentallyfriendly movement to save our planet. Jewish & Israeli Visions: This sidebar is back from its hiatus thanks to sponsorship by Pinxav. These films are enjoyable for the entire family. Be sure to bring the kids (we recommend ages ten and older)! Local Heroes: Sponsored by CSU and the Callahans, our annual recognition of films made about Cleveland, in Cleveland, or by Clevelanders, continues this year. Medical Mart: Exploring concerns from around the globe, these films illustrate that health care and medical issues are universal themes. Midnight Snacks: We are luring all night owls to prowl the Festival at midnight and feast on these dark, mysterious, and bizarre films. Music! Movies!: For those who love music just as much, or even more (gasp!) than film, we invite you to enjoy these selections. OH Canada: A tribute to our neighbors to the north, this eclectic group of films represent the best about Canada, in Canada. Not bad, eh? Pacific Pearls: We pay our sophomore year tribute to Asia and the Pacific Islands—an area of the world with an intensely growing impact on the world of film. Pan-African Images: These remarkable films hail from both Africa and the United States, featuring stories made by and about Africans and African-Americans. Scandinavian Screenings: This sidebar returns due to popular demand and an impressive collection Nordic filmmaking. Women of the World: Thanks to the generosity of the Cobalt Group, we are thrilled to present this new sidebar celebrating a strong representation of women. |
