Getting Ready... For YOU

I cannot believe that it's already after 4:30 pm on Friday! It doesn't feel like a week has passed-- didn't I just get here? But that's what time it is and, as we get the 4 pm round settled in the theaters we're getting ready... for the serious thronging that will begin tonight.

After all, it's the end of the work week, and only a few days left in the Festival... historically, this is our busiest time. Never mind that we've already broken so many attendance records this year; you guys are just getting started!

So we're prepared, and we're excited. We have a ton of filmmakers in town, too, so there's a good chance that you'll get to ask a few of them questions after their films! (Tonight, that includes Herb and Dorothy, Ciao, and Manana in the 7pm round.) Keep an eye out for a wandering cowboy... his film, Four Minutes Til Noon, is showing in Saturday's Family Shorts Program #2. And you're probably going to be seeing zombies wandering the theater lobby, and Tower City, courtesy of makeup artist/director Frank Ippolito, whose two short films, & Teller and & Teller 2, will run tonight in the Midnight Shorts Program #3. (I'm pretty sure I've mentioned by now that I love zombies, haven't I?)

Of course, the really scary creatures running around tonight are the Cavs fans! I mentioned this yesterday, but I should bring it up again -- Festival patrons are entitled to free parking, so if you get diverted into the "Event Parking" area, make sure to mention to the attendants that you're there for the Festival, not the game. We're going to try to make sure that our lines don't get tangled with theirs, but if things get a little tight in that hallway, please bear with us; we will make sure that you get to your seat in time for your film.

There are a number of films that are likely to be in Stand-By in the 7pm round, but don't let that intimidate you. Bill tries to put films in Stand-By at exactly the right time to ensure that there will be enough tickets for everybody when they show up. It's rare that we have to turn people away from a film, so don't be scared of Stand-By.

It's going to be an amazing night, and the start of an amazing weekend, and we're ready. We're beyond excited, and we hope that you are, too!
