When the Tower Lights Go Out...

Don't panic!

For the last few nights, you may have noticed that Terminal Tower has been displaying the Film Festival colors during the night. And if you haven't, it's really worth a look. But something else is happening tonight for a little while, so if you look up and notice that Terminal Tower has gone dark... don't panic!

Terminal Tower is one of the many landmarks in the US and around the world that is participating in Earth Hour tonight. For one hour, between 8:30 and 9:30 pm, the tower will go dark, as will the decorative exterior lights on City Hall and a lot of residences and businesses around the city. And not just around the city but all over the world. Toronto's CN Tower, San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, and many other notable landmarks are going dark all over the world.

If you're actually in a film at the time, you don't have to worry that the screen is going to go dark. Everything will be playing on schedule. And we won't make you try to read your program guide in darkness up in the Hospitality Suite, either. But if you get a moment, step out into Tower City Center and look up through the skylight to see a rare sight: Terminal Tower shrouded in darkness to summon a different kind of enlightenment.

And if you're preparing to join us downtown, don't forget to turn your lights off on the way out the door. ;)
