Jean-Paul is your average husband, father, and doctor. He lives a typical 53-year-old life. But that all changes when he meets Nathalie, a beautiful 28-year-old painter. They start a magical affair and Jean-Paul ends up leaving his wife and children for the younger woman in hopes of beginning a new and pleasurable life. But can one throw away the past and start over after 50? Jean-Paul is rudely awakened by finding out it isn’t as easy as one might think. What he thought would be a better life does not turn out exactly the way he expected. Between dealing with his suicidal daughter and his eccentric estranged wife, he must meet Nathalie’s parents who are his same age. The characters in this comedy-drama will have you laughing out loud and comparing them to relatives in your own family. As the debut film of director and writer Claude Meunier, HONEY, I’M IN LOVE dares to answer the question: "Is family really the key to happiness?" (In French with English subtitles) —L.W.
