Enjoying a peaceful summer morning on the beach with his brother Carlo, successful film executive Pietro suddenly spots a woman drowning. Reacting instinctively, he rushes to the water and saves the woman, Eleonora, from her near death experience. Then when Pietro returns to his summer home, he finds that his wife Lara has unexpectedly died in a freak accident. Left alone with his ten-year-old daughter Claudia and immense grief, Pietro dejectedly returns to his home in Rome. As he quickly learns the challenges of life as a single father, Claudia’s first day of school arrives. After bidding his daughter adieu, Pietro impulsively decides to wait the entirety of the day on a park bench across the street. And day after day he does the same. Though friends, family, and even strangers attempt to coerce him away from the park, Pietro will not budge. Antonello Grimaldi’s QUIET CHAOS is the touching and at times humorous story of one man’s unusual process of bereavement. (In Italian with English subtitles) – E.J.B.
