Geoff Edgers, a journalist with The Boston Globe, has a mission to complete before he turns 40: to reunite the four original Kinks – Ray Davies, Dave Davies, Pete Quaife, and Mick Avory – for a concert. Why do we need the Kinks? Edgers makes the case that so many bands were influenced by the group, including Oasis, Green Day, and Franz Ferdinand, just to name a few. But there is a delicate balance between devoted fan (cute) and obsessed fanatic (creepy). Soon Geoff realizes it’s about the journey and not the destination. Early days are spent with rejection letters and unanswered phone calls until he finally enlists the help of some higher profile supporters. Those helpers include Warren Zanes (Del Fuegos), John Cusack, Zooey Deschanel, Yoko Ono, Robyn Hitchcock, Peter Buck (REM), Sting, recording mogul Clive Davis, and even Dave Davies. But the true goal, Ray Davies, remains elusive. Like many quests, this is as much a story about Geoff's unfulfilled wishes and dreams from youth and his reconciliation of past times. DO IT AGAIN is a great ride for Kinks fans and novices alike. – C.C.P.

A special post-film discussion and Q & A will be held immediately following the March 26th showing with Producer Geoff Edgers, Director Robert Patton-Spruill and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum Chief Curator Jim Henke.
