The intangible and affecting imprint those who have passed away leave on the living is the underlying theme of LIVING AFTERWARDS, a touching and emotional film about the influence of family relationships. When Henri loses his wife after 40 years together, he and his three grown children must decide what to do with the hotel they have run together their entire lives. Dominique, Ludovic, and Louis want to shut the hotel down and leave the memory of their mother in the past, which Henri in his grief is unable to do. But when eight-month pregnant Alice shows up looking for a place to stay, Henri decides to reopen the hotel, igniting tension among the family members and forcing them to face their inability to communicate with one another. Ultimately, they’ll discover how death’s proximity can bring them back to their desire to live and love, transforming their loss into something positive and constructive.
