Special Programs

Recognizing that film has the power to transform its viewers, in 2010 the CIFF permanently established its newest educational program entitled After the Credits Roll.

This program, which utilizes our Greg Gund Memorial Standing Up films as a platform to engage our audience, includes FilmForums, Lights! Camera! Action Steps!, and Cinema Synergy.

FilmForums are moderated and interactive panel discussions that feature filmmakers, community leaders, and scholars who are knowledgeable about the topic at hand. FilmForums offer CIFF patrons creative and unique opportunities to explore urgent, relevant, and complex social issues. These are issues that cannot and should not be ignored.

Lights! Camera! Action Steps! supplies audience members with materials on how to take action locally (and beyond) once a screening is over. These materials (which exist as hand-outs and/or on-line) are developed in collaboration with the filmmakers to ensure that they reflect the artists' intent.

Cinema Synergy at the CIFF occurs when films are connected with media partners and community partners for in-kind, cross-promotional purposes. Films are also paired up with individual sponsors and corporate sponsors at every opportunity. Once the relationships are established, all of the partners and sponsors are introduced to one another and they are linked to the filmmaker. As a result, the impact of the film on the community, and the filmmaker's interactions with the community, are strengthened.
