Year: 2009
Country: EGYPT
Run Time: 105 minutes
It's game day! The Egyptian National Football Team is playing Cameroon for the African National Cup in Ghana. Bets are placed; plans are made. The city is a kaleidoscope of sound, color, and action. As the buildup to game time progresses, everyday life continues for pop sensation Nina, budding conman Aly, nurse Rihan, Adel the hairstylist, and Sherif the alcoholic talk show host. Their stories commence as separate layers that later converge onto one another. It's an interesting montage of morals and conventions covering class, gender, and religious conventions in contemporary Egyptian culture. Each character struggles regarding their place within bustling Cairo. There is deception, confrontation, and accident. However, a little nationalism goes a long way in ONE-ZERO, bringing everyone back together. (In Arabic with subtitles) – C.C.P.
