Year: 2011
Country: GERMANY
Run Time: 95 minutes
The economic crisis has crept into the sleepy Bavarian Forest. Since its glassworks closed, the tiny Catholic village of Marienzell is on the brink of financial ruin. To save on groceries, people are driving to Aldi rather than patronizing Waltraud's shop. Waltraud and her co-workers Lena and Maria will be forced to close if they don't come up with a new idea quick, since their credit runs out in a month. But these shrewd businesswomen aren't giving up without a fight. Even Marienzell needs to modernize, so they decide to fill a market niche and start an erotic phone sex service. Known to their new customers as Sarah, Lolita and Maya, the ladies heavily market their homegrown Bavarian product, and soon their phone lines light up like a Christmas tree. But the suspicious mayor's wife and the parish priest are hot on their trail. If their cover is blown, the scandal will be calamitous. Sure to provoke howls of laughter, HOT LINE will leave you begging for more. (In German with subtitles) – B.B.
