THE STAR TALERS is an enchanting movie based on a Brothers Grimm fairytale. Mina is a brave girl whose village is in trouble. The country's evil king has taken all the adults away and made them work for him. Mina must take the village's last silver coins—called Talers—to the king to pay for the grownups' freedom. She meets a man named Caspar who keeps his dog, Mr. Flix, in a tiny cage. Mina feels sorry for Mr. Flix and risks the village's money on a bet, hoping to release him from his prison. Mr. Flix can talk to children with pure hearts, and he tells Mina how to free him. Now girl and dog journey together through the forest to the castle. The fearsome king lets her search for her parents—but only until sundown. Can Mina save her village and set her parents free? A heartwarming tale with an authentic period feel, this film features the 11-year-old actress from last year's "Here Comes Lola." (In German with subtitles) –B.B.
