Run Time: 102 minutes
After his wife dies in a car accident in Puerto Vallarta, Robert decides to move to Mexico City with his teenage daughter Alejandra. His depression over the loss leaves him emotionally crippled, sleeping all day, and struggling to adapt to his new job. Alejandra initially finds success in her new surroundings, friending a group of kids at her school. After attending one of their drunken parties, she hooks up with one of the boys, who records the encounter and carelessly spreads it to everyone he knows. Quickly, her daily life becomes a nightmare as she's brutally bullied, resulting in physical and sexual abuse on many occasions. Afraid of worrying her mourning father, Alejandra puts up with the cruel attacks, which escalate from simple pranks to downright torture. Just how far will these vicious kids go? How long can she internalize the agonizing shame she's feeling? AFTER LUCIA tackles bullying with an intensity not seen in other films on the subject. It's raw, honest, and unwavering in the examination of an extremely dark side of human nature. (In Spanish with subtitles) – E.F.
