Run Time: 85 minutes
Among the beautiful lakes in the lands north of Berlin, Rosa and her lover Kirsten live an idyllic life. Rosa is a professional fisherwoman and the guardian of these magical waters. Kirsten lives in a bungalow right on the water’s edge. One glorious weekend in late summer, the couple play host to two young lesbian students who are on a break from their studies in Berlin. As the visit progresses, these women reveal their views and hopes to each other, discovering and celebrating the differences and similarities of their respective generations. But as these four unique women reveal their inner selves, the various attractions of their outer selves begin to factor in as well. Sexual tensions start to slowly mount and the long, heavenly summer weekend lies before them. Combining excellent ensemble acting with superb cinematography, FRAUENSEE revels both in the physical beauty of this exquisite countryside as well as in that of the women themselves.
