A recurring character on British radio and television programs, DJ Alan Partridge finally hits the big screen as Steve Coogan reprises his role for ALAN PARTRIDGE: ALPHA PAPA. In the film, the small radio station he works for is being taken over by a soulless corporation. His friend Pat is convinced they'll lose their jobs, but Partridge is unfazed. That quickly changes when he inadvertently discovers the bigwigs are making a cut, and the choice is between him or Pat. Partridge secretly goes behind his pal's back, convincing the bosses to sack Pat – advice they end up taking. Later that night, Pat gets his revenge by taking the station hostage. Partridge manages to escape, only to be sent back inside by police who need him to negotiate. Can the clumsy fool save the day, or will his insecurities get the best of him? This hilarious action-comedy makes no apologies for its silliness. Coogan and a terrific supporting cast keep the laughs coming hard, while still managing to sneak in a great message about the value of friendship. —E.F.
