Run Time: 95 minutes
When Fatima's husband leaves the Syrian regime army to join the rebels, he arranges for a man named Farid to take her and her sister Aya out of the country. If they stay, they could become targets of revenge. Headed for Turkey, they also pick up Bilal, whose mysterious reasons for fleeing remain unknown to the women. Shortly after starting the trip, Farid unexpectedly dies, leaving the three completely clueless about where they are and what to do next. Frustrated and scared, they do their best to navigate through the countryside, in hopes of finding their way out. One night they are spotted by gunmen, who end up kidnapping Aya. Forced to forge on as a duo, Fatima and Bilal begin to get on each other's nerves. Will their differences cause them to turn on each other? Lost in a dangerous place, all they have is each other. BORDER bravely tackles the Syrian crisis, giving a face to the countless men, women, and children who are literally dying every day to get out. (In Arabic with subtitles) — E.F.
