38th CLEVELAND INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL DAY AND KNIGHT IN AKRON

THE HOME FOR STORIES. On Thursday, March 27th the 38th CIFF will present its second annual Day and Knight in Akron, presented with generous support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, with additional support from the Akron Community Foundation and the GAR Foundation.

The Day and KNIGHT in Akron will offer a full day of programming, including eight screenings taking place at the Akron Art Museum and the Akron-Summit County Public Library. The line-up will showcase five feature films and two Ohio Shorts programs.

THE 38th CLEVELAND INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (CIFF) TO CLOSE WITH: DOM HEMINGWAY

The 38th Cleveland International Film Festival, presented by Dollar Bank, is proud to announce that its Closing Night film on Sunday, March 30, 2014 will be DOM HEMINGWAY.

DOM HEMINGWAY, directed by Richard Shepard and produced by Jeremy Thomas with Nick O’Hagan as co-producer, stars Jude Law, Richard E. Grant, Demian Bichir, Emilia Clarke, Kerry Condon, Jumayn Hunter, Madalina Ghenea, and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett.

DOM HEMINGWAY is a larger-than-life safecracker with a cocky swagger who is witty, unhinged, and full of piss and vinegar. After twelve years in prison, he sets off with his partner in crime Dickie (Richard E. Grant) looking to collect what he's owed for keeping his mouth shut and protecting his boss Mr. Fontaine (Demian Bichir). After a near-death experience, Dom tries to re-connect with his estranged daughter (Emilia Clarke), but is soon drawn back into the only world he knows, looking to settle the ultimate debt.

Closing Night of the 38th CIFF is sponsored by University Hospitals.

38th CLEVELAND INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL AKRON PREVIEW RECEPTION

THE HOME FOR STORIES. The 38th Cleveland International Film Festival and 89.7 WKSU will
hold their annual Akron Preview Reception on Thursday, March 6th from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Akron Civic Theatre in downtown Akron. This free event will feature complimentary hors d’oeuvres and dessert, a brief program, the screening of select short subject films, the presentation of the 38th CIFF trailer reel, as well as free Program Guides.

Please RSVP at www.wksu.org/events. You are not required to print a voucher and the event is free and open to the general public.

The Akron Civic Theatre is located at 182 S. Main St. with plenty of city parking nearby, which is free after 6 p.m.

38th CLEVELAND INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES PROGRAM LINE-UP

THE HOME FOR STORIES. The 38th Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF), presented by Dollar Bank, announces its program line-up HERE. The 38th CIFF will take place March 19th – 30th at Tower City Cinemas and select neighborhood screening locations. The Festival will showcase 185 feature films and 168 short subject films representing 68 countries during its 12 day run. 38th CIFF Opening Night Film Announced

The 38th Cleveland International Film Festival, presented by Dollar Bank, is proud to announce that its Opening Night film on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 will be NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING.

The film is directed by John McKay and produced by Claire Mundell and co-produced by Wendy Griffin at Synchronicity Films, with David Solomons as screenwriter. This gentle, stylish, and quirky romantic comedy stars Karen Gillan, Stanley Weber, Amy Manson, Iain De Caestecker, Kate Dickie, Freya Mavor, Gary Lewis, and Henry Ian Cusick.

NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING tells the story of struggling publisher Thomas Duval (Stanley Weber) who discovers his only successful author, Jane Lockhart (Karen Gillan), has writer’s block; and it is up to him to unblock her or he is finished. With her newfound success, she’s become too happy and she can’t write when she’s happy. The only trouble is, the worse he makes her feel, the more he realizes he is in love with her.

NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING is backed by the British Film Company and Creative Scotland, with international distribution from LevelK.

Opening Night of the 38th CIFF is sponsored by Parker, the company that can be found on and around everything that moves – including moving pictures.

Tickets to the Opening Night Gala are $125 per person ($100 for CIFF members). The Gala includes the film at 7:00 p.m. at Tower City Cinemas, followed by a NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING party at 9:00 p.m. at Post Office Plaza in Tower City Center. Special guests will include director John McKay and actor Henry Ian Cusick. Additional special guests TBA.
