Our Film (and other ARTS) Feasts series is marking its 10th anniversary, and what better way to celebrate than with a trip to Vegas, baby!
Join us for a day of high-roller, Vegas-style fun that kicks-off with a tour of the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, which is operated by the Cleveland Clinic. This one-of-a-kind building was designed by world-renowned architect, Frank Gehry. We'll then head to lunch where we'll be joined by CIFF Artistic Director, Bill Guentzler, and CIFF Programming Assistant, Mallory Martin, who will be flying in directly from the Sundance Film Festival. They'll not only fill us in on which films were a hit, but will also get us caught up on all the latest news coming out of Sundance.
After we've filled up on food and film talk, we'll head to downtown Vegas where we'll tour the Neon Museum, an entity dedicated to preserving the rich history of Las Vegas's iconic art form, the neon sign. We'll even take a stroll through the Neon Museum Boneyard, a site of national and international photo shoots and filming, where we'll see signs dating back to the 1930's and representing both local businesses and casinos alike.
Our day will then take us to one of the newest and most talked about entities in Vegas – The Mob Museum. Our special guests for this incredible tour will be Dennis and Kathy Barrie, who are not only fellow Clevelanders, but are also the Creative Director and Curator behind this one-of-a-kind collection. We'll hear stories of how The Mob Museum came about, what it was like to gather the stories and pieces that are included in the museum, and which of the numerous Cleveland connections can be found throughout the museum.
To cap off the day, we will walk over to the famous Oscar's Steakhouse, so named after the former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman, who was dubbed "the happiest mayor in the universe." We'll enjoy cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and the spectacular view of Fremont Street and the heart of Downtown Las Vegas.
Odds are you'll regret missing out on this trip through Vegas history, so reserve your spot today! And don't worry about stories following us home because, as we all know, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
(Travel and accommodations are not included, but please contact Debby Samples at 216.623.3456 x14 or debby@clevelandfilm.org for special offers and savings.)
