What is the Halfway to CIFF45?

Halfway to CIFF45 is a celebration of the halfway point to CIFF45 (which opens on April 7, 2021). Join us online as we bring back some of the best of CIFF44 short films in three different Shorts Programs: Halfway Comedy Shorts Program, Halfway Jury Shorts Program 1, and Halfway Jury Shorts Program 2.

There will be a moderated, pre-recorded conversation following each of the Halfway Shorts Programs. Each pre-recorded conversation will include closed captioning and a sign language interpreter. Please check individual short film descriptions for closed captioning availability.

The Halfway Shorts Programs and their accompanying pre-recorded conversations will be available to stream from 11:00 AM ET on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 through 11:00 PM ET on Saturday, October 10, 2020. The Halfway Shorts Programs cannot be streamed after 11:00 PM ET on October 10, 2020.

When are the Halfway Shorts Programs available to stream?

All three of the Halfway Shorts Programs will be available to stream over four days, from Wednesday, October 7, 2020 beginning at 11:00 AM ET through 11:00 PM ET on Saturday, October 10, 2020. While the Halfway Shorts Programs are available for streaming until 11:00 PM ET on Saturday, October 10, 2020, streaming tickets must be purchased by 9:00 PM ET on Saturday, October 10, 2020.


There will be a moderated, pre-recorded conversation following each of the Halfway Shorts Programs. These conversations will stream immediately following the film, there is no need to register for post-film conversations or change online platforms. These conversations will also be published and available HERE beginning on October 7, 2020.

Tickets to stream the Halfway Shorts Programs are available on a pay-what-you-can sliding scale from $5-$50. Each ticket is for one of the Halfway Shorts Programs, not individual shorts within the program and not a ticket to all three Halfway Shorts Programs. No refunds or exchanges will be issued for streaming tickets to the Halfway Shorts Programs.

I purchased a streaming ticket for the Halfway Shorts Programs; how do I stream the shorts program?

  • If you purchased streaming tickets for the Halfway Shorts Programs prior to 11:00 AM ET on October 6, 2020 (24 hours before the viewing window opens), you will receive an emailed order confirmation within minutes of purchase. Twenty-four hours before the viewing window opens at 11:00 AM ET on October 7, 2020, you will receive your streaming access email containing your streaming access ticket code (for streaming films on Roku or Apple TV) and a streaming access link (for streaming the film on all other devices). Be sure to check your spam/junk folder if you are unable to locate the emails.
  • If you purchased streaming tickets for the Halfway Shorts Programs between 11:00 AM ET on October 6, 2020 and 9:00 PM ET on October 10, 2020, you will receive an order confirmation email containing your streaming access ticket code (for streaming films on Roku or Apple TV) and a streaming access link (for streaming the film on all other devices). Be sure to check your spam/junk folder if you are unable to locate the email(s).

Do I need to login to the CIFF Streams platform to access my streaming ticket for the Halfway Shorts Programs?

No. If you're accessing the CIFF Streams platform from a computer, laptop, or tablet, click on the "Watch Online" link in your streaming access email when you're ready to watch. If you're accessing CIFF Streams through Apple TV or Roku, you will need to use the ticket code listed in your streaming access email when prompted to do so on the CIFF Streams app. There is no need to enter anything into the member login fields on the CIFF Streams platform.

Why does video playback stall or not play smoothly?

The CIFF Streams streaming platform uses adaptive bitrate streaming which means the streaming quality will automatically adjust based on your internet speed. If your internet connection is poor or inconsistent you may experience problems during playback. If you’re on Wi-Fi, try moving closer to your router.
