Film Overview

The De La Salle High Spartans, from Concord, California possess the longest number of consecutive victories in the record books – 125 games, and counting. Not a loss since 1991. Some have half-seriously worried whether grief counselors should be summoned when the Spartans ever come out second-best. Despite all the hype, the school, a Catholic institution, strives to instill values and responsibility in the students and not let The Streak turn into a media and marketing monster that commercializes and cheapens sportsmanship, ethics and academics. “This is still high school. This is still 16, 17-year-old kids playing a game.” On the sidelines is the enigmatic “Coach Lad,” Bob Ladouceur, who has turned down lucrative outside offers of employment to rally the Spartans (“We're hitting like Little Sisters of the Poor!”) as the team goes to Hawaii for another championship, and you have the best seat in the stadium.
