Always a popular program in previous Cleveland Film Festivals, this year's Tournee of Animation (a fresh program of new animation compiled each year) includes a varied selection of animated short films - 14 in all - from around the world. Included are the Academy Award-winning SANDCASTLE by Co Hoedemen, THE FIGHT by Marcell Jankovics (which won a top prize at Cannes), Sara Petty's exquisite FURIES and several striking examples of object animation. Included are classic works from Zagreb, Pannonia and the National Film Board of Canada. Among the countries represented are Canada, Hungary, Italy, the United States and Yugoslavia.
"Continues to be the best and most wide-ranging sample of the newest and most exciting work in that lively branch of filmmaking art." - Charles Champlin, Los Angeles Times
"Oranges, beads, beans, tin cans and sand creatures are the unlikely stars of this season's delightful collection of short films in the 13th International Tournee of Animation." - Robert Taylor, Oakland Tribune
