The three important musical films of Hans Conrad Fischer have created a new style of dramatic documentation. An array of world-famous musicians and orchestras are presented in three musical biographies which recreate the lives and times of Beethoven, Bruckner and Mozart by means of letters, documents, paintings and photographic views of the countrysides, cities and buildings where the main events of each composer's life took place. Produced in 1967 (Mozart), 1970 (Beethoven) and 1974 (Bruckner), the thoughtful films have found an enthusiastic reception in the world's great concert halls as well as in small suburban cinemas, and they have garnered numerous prizes.
