STAY AS YOU ARE is a highly provocative, erotic romance featuring well-known star Marcello Mastroianni and newcomer Nastassja Kinski. Well-to-do architect Mastroianni becomes involved in a May/December love affair with lovely young law student Kinski, only to find out that she may be his child because of an affair he had 18 years earlier. Her mother is now dead, so the truth remains a mystery that raises some perplexing questions. Complications arise when Mastroianni must face problems involving his legitimate daughter while trying to regain his youthful outlook by continuing his romance with Kinski. Alberto Lattuada began his career directing neo-realist dramas such as "Without Pity" (1948) and "Variety Lights" (1950, with Federico Fellini), and in recent years has had many commercial hits while gaining a reputation for discovering and showcasing beautiful young actresses.
