Based on Patricia Highsmith's novel, EDITH'S DIARY has all the pyschological intensity of Highsmith's other works adapted for the screen, such as "Strangers on a Train" and "An American Friend." Angela Winkler is superb as Edith, a politically active, liberal magazine editor. Her private life becomes more hellish day by day. Expelled from school, her anti-social son drinks and deals drugs. Edith's husband takes off with is secretary, leaving her only his demanding, incontinent, invalid uncle to care for. She copes by inventing her own utopia in her diary. As the dense overgrowth of Edith's plants turn her interior walls into a dark jungle, she retreats deep within her fantasy while her disturbed son tries to save her - at any cost . . .
