When movie theatres showed travelogs, cartoons and short subjects as a regular part of their programs, Columbia's featurette stable of comics included The Three Stooges, High Herbert, Leon Errol and Vera Vague. In 1939 Columbia's Screen Gems gave Buster Keaton carte blanche to create a series of short comedies. Keaton's early film career established his talent in the forefront of silent comedy, on a par with Charlie Chaplin, Harry Langdon and Harold Lloyd. His comic genius survived the transition to sound, as evidenced by this compilation of the 9 brilliant shorts he created between 1939 and 1941, reissued for the first time. KEATON LAUGHS is a precious legacy from one of the most lovable clowns to ever llight up a screen.
