PERIL is Michel Deville's ("Voyage en Douce") 22nd film, a sophisticated, erotic thriller that could easily be titled "The Perverse Charm of the Bourgeoisie," peopled with characters who are never what they appear to be. David (Christophe Malavoy) is a handsome, young man hired by a wealthy couple (Nicole Garcia, Michel Piccoli) to give guitar lessons to their teenage daughter in their elegant country home. Soon the femme fatale wife slithers into David's loft for love in the afternoons. A smooth hired killer and a voyeuristic neighbor make David aware he is being watched - and in danger. A subtle cat and mouse game of murder and intrigue follows, stunningly performed in a sleek style that won Cesars for Best Directing and Best Editing.
