"The Beast" is the name given by Afghanis to the Soviet tanks that spearheaded the invasion of their country in 1980. This film focuses on the crew of a single Soviet tank lost in a harsh desert and the crew's flight from a band of Afghani rebels seeking revenge for the atrocities incurred on their village. Overwhelmed by their fight for survival, the crew's pretense of military discipline unravels and longstanding tensions surface. THE BEA ST is a taut and timely drama of moral dilemmas, personal histories, and consciences in conflict.
