This riveting thriller, based on a real case, recounts the career of a small-time thief known as La Gringa, infamous for his uncanny ability to escape from prisons. After escaping from most of Peru's tightest jails, he is eventually sent to a high security prison island. There he meets a professor falsely accused of terrorism. A friendship develops between the two men, and the professor agrees to help La Gringa publish his journals on life in and out of Peru's prisons. When attempts are made on La Gringa's life, he escapes again, but decides to retum to help his innocent friend escape as well. By now, though, the inmates have begun a revolt. Before he knows it, La Gringa is in the midst of a brutal battle, and the army is dropping bombs.
