SHAKES THE CLOWN

This twisted and tasteless comedy was written and directed by its star, the very bizarre comic, Bobcat Goldthwait. Bobcat plays Shakes, an alcoholic party clown who thinks he has his DTs under control. One moming, after waking up half-naked on Florence Henderson's bathroom floor, Shakes gathers up his wig and nose, downs another beer, and heads off to a suburban birthday paily. When he threatens the kids, he almost loses his job. But Shakes really hits bottom when his evil rival, Binky, along with some drug-dealing rodeo clowns, kills Shakes' boss and tries to pin it on him. Shakes has to expose Binky in order to save his girlfriend, Julie Brown ("Earth Girls Are Easy," 13th CIFF, 1989).
