It's the summer of 1977, the year of the Queen's Silver Jubilee, and patriotism is running high in Great Britain. Black popular culture is also on the rise, influencing the mainstream through disco, soul music and the club scene. Caz and Chris are two young, black disc jockeys, one gay, one straight, whose pirate radio station spreads soul and funk across London. When a young black man is murdered in a city park, racial and sexual tensions begin to surface around and between them. As their relationship spirals into ruin, the mystery behind the murder also unravels. Bursting with the explosive self-affirmation of those on the margins, YOUNG SOUL REBELS is an entertaining and passionate drama of friendship, murder and cultural warfare.
