Lucien drunkenly stumbles home in the wee hours of the morning. He doesn't clean up after himself; he has a housekeeper, clad in fishnets and high heals, named Roxanne who does it for him. He is even having an affair with his best friend's wife. But Lucien is hardly Belgium's hottest hunk, or at least not now. After the recent death of his wife of 55 years, curmudgeonly Lucien attempts to find his place in society as a single man in his eighties. Uncomfortable with the rapid changes in the world, he habitually types irate letters to the editor of his local newspaper. Yet few seem to listen, including his daughter Gerde, who would prefer that he live in a rest home instead of on his own. The only person who really talks to Lucien is his granddaughter Julie, but she is moving to Paris. Lonely, Lucien begins to give up hope for the future. But when stunning Sylvia moves in next door, Lucien's life changes completely. Geoffrey Enthoven's THE ONLY ONE refutes the idea that life ends past the age of 80.
