With droves of Romanians seeking to exit the country, Irish conman Mickey Moynihan devises the perfect plan to make cash. After charming the Irish Consul in Romania over a few pints, Mickey only has to convince him that 41 random Romanians are invited to an Irish music festival - as an acclaimed gypsy choir. While working out the details of his scam to make money off of the visas, Mickey crosses paths with Catalina, a young woman whose father has lost her in a bet to the ringleader of the Gypsy Mafia. Desperate to flee, Catalina has gone to "The Frenchman," a madman who can get anyone a Visa - at a price. In the end, Mickey and his cohorts are dealing with far more than the good-natured Consul and 41 tone-deaf Romanians. Clever cinematography, an astonishingly fast pace, and a spot-on soundtrack make this a funny and engrossing film. In addition to being based on a real immigration scam, WHAT MEANS MOTLEY? stars the Honorary Irish Consul of Romania, who also co-wrote and co-produced the film.
