SWING STATE possesses all the charm of a home movie, if your home is overrun by frenzied campaign workers plus one driven candidate who happens to be your dad, all chattering and e-mailing at once. Jason Zone Fisher is the son of Lee Fisher, Lieutenant Governor of Ohio. A recent graduate of Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Communications, he first filmed behind the scenes of his dad's 1998 gubernatorial campaign when he was 14. In SWING STATE he emphasizes the importance of Ohio gubernatorial elections as predicting the outcome of the 2008 presidential decision. Young Fisher and his team record the personal and public frenzy involved in the 2006 campaign when Fisher was running-mate to current Governor Ted Strickland. Following his dad around the kitchen with his hand-held camera, interviewing him over a midnight snack, or impersonating him at Halloween, it's clear that Jason deeply respects his old man. At the same time, the film shows how difficult a life in politics can be for the rest of the family. Included are interviews with many movers and shakers such as Bill Clinton, Ted Strickland, Ken Blackwell, and Barack Obama. --BB
