In 1969 the Piazza Fontana building in Milan was bombed. The tragedy killed 17 people and wounded 88. To date, no one has ever been convicted of the crime. Italian State Police placed blame on left-wing organizations from the start, but were unable to ever prove their suspicions. PIAZZA FONTANA reconstructs the events that took place and focuses on the investigation, which led to the strange death of Giuseppe Pinelli, an anarchist who died during interrogations. Commissioner Luigi Calabresi, wrongly held responsible for Pinelli's demise, begins to uncover new information regarding the attacks, leading him in a very different direction. Had the police been searching for answers in all the wrong places? Director Marco Tullio Giordana arranges the story with great skill, carefully weaving every nuance into one very stylish and cohesive picture. Filled with terrific performances from Valerio Mastandrea and Pierfrancesco Favino, PIAZZA FONTANA is a riveting historical thriller that examines the many layers of Italy's most notorious unsolved crime.
