On December 19th, 2013, Governor John Kasich signed into law a new statute giving Ohio adoptees access to their original birth certificates. This historic legislation, twenty-four years in the making, provides 400,000 adopted citizens with the actual record of their birth—and for many, knowledge of their origins for the very first time. This short documentary reveals the fascinating story behind why Ohio sealed these records in the first place, and how one woman never gave up on changing a system her own father inadvertently created. With footage from other states which have enacted similar legislation, AN ADOPTEE ROARED IN OHIO gives a glimpse of what will happen when the law goes into effect in the Buckeye state in March of 2015.
