An Honest Liar

When he was young, James "The Amazing" Randi did all the things Houdini did; he just did them faster and smarter. He wiggled out of straightjackets quicker, escaped from underwater coffins in record speed, and even did a few remarkable tricks hanging upside down. But he spent the second half of his life refining what would become his greatest ability – exposing the truth. After dedicating his life to investigating (and disproving) self-proclaimed “psychics,” James Randi now advocates for magic and wonder over deception and profit. He stumped Uri Geller during a particularly memorable Johnny Carson sketch, he exposed Peter Popoff’s “healing ministry” as a fraud, and he provided ammunition for skeptics in America. With a slate of impressive interviews ranging from Geller to Penn & Teller, AN HONEST LIAR is a true delight that portrays a man who fought to increase the intelligence of his audience… while still keeping a few secrets of his own. – C.P.
