Scenarios USA is a national non-profitorganization that uses writing and filmto foster youth leadership, advocacy,and self-expression in students acrossthe country with a focus on marginalizedpopulations and under-servedcommunities. This year’s SCENARIOSUSA program will include the screeningof two new films, a look behind-thescenes,and a presentation of theCleveland-made film, “House, NotHome.”

House, Not Home is a firsthandaccount of Terran, a gender fluidteenager navigating the journey out ofthe closet. The story follows Terranwhile dealing with bullying and violencefrom peers and rejection from aparent, before eventually findingcourage. The writer, Skyler Edge (16),a junior at Facing History New TechHigh School in Cleveland, wrote thestory to give a voice to trans communitiesin schools around the country.Directed by Joshua Butler (VampireDiaries, Pretty Little Liars), 14 min.

This film will be accompanied by abehind-the-scenes video that exploresthe issues presented in the story andthe making of the film. 10 min.

Aleah is the story of a 17-year-oldgirl living in East New York. Aleah turnsto the violent streets after her abusivemother and boyfriend abandon herwhen she gets pregnant. Brooklynwriter Nialani Pringle (16) wrote thestory to explore such important issuesas teen pregnancy, abuse in teenrelationships, and violence that manyyouth struggle with. Directed by LaurieCollyer (Sherrybaby, Sunlight Jr.)13 min.

This film will be accompanied by a behind-the-scenes video that explores the issues presented in the story and the making of the film. 10 min.
