In the glittering African city of Lagos, four remarkable women are confronting their 50th year. Tola is a mega-controlling reality TV star, who is celebrating her birthday by televising it. Kate is a party planner, who has fanatically turned to Jesus to save a struggling marriage and hide from a potentially serious illness. Maria is a powerful businesswoman, who has just discovered an adulterous affair has left her pregnant. And Elizabeth is a fertility specialist, who manages her patients’ lives, but not so much her own. FIFTY runs on high wattage diva power and performances as glamorous as they are real. The arcs of these four friends' lives are about to cross and collide in unexpected ways. Things will be said and deeds done that will drop your jaw and make you gasp with delight. But beneath it all are serious issues of aging and gender that ground the roller coaster plot and glorious bitchiness with a warm, human heart. –C.R.
