Armando roams the streets of Caracas looking for beautiful young men. Emotionally isolated by an abusive father, Armando never touches them, instead paying them to pose for his erotic fulfillment. One day he picks up Elder, a violent and equally isolated gang member. He beats Armando and steals his money and wallet. This sparks an obsessive interest in the boy and the type of life he leads. Armando begins following him, offering him larger sums for further encounters. Armando seems unaware of the grave risks he is taking. When Elder himself is the victim of violence, Armando brings him into his home to recover. This sets off a relationship that may be very healing or very dangerous for both. They live in a neighborhood where poverty and prejudice can spark sudden brutality and watchful eyes are everywhere. FROM AFAR steadily escalates the dramatic and erotic tension, pulling you towards a conclusion that is as startling as it is unexpected. (In Spanish with subtitles) –C.R.
