Miguel, a handsome skater from a middle-class family, and Johnny, a tattooed low-life who lives in an industrial container, are “milkers”—minor Mexico City criminals who sell the blood of volunteers (whom they refer to as cows) on the black market. At the lucrative price of 3,000 pesos per blood bag, they skate around the city tracking down desperate working class citizens willing to donate. Miguel and Johnny also happen to be in love, despite the abundant ridicule they face from their fellow conspirators. Complicating their relationship, Adri, a spindly seductress, constantly threatens to steal Johnny from Miguel. When a major score of over 50 cows goes horribly awry, Johnny and Miguel have to navigate a landscape of cops and other criminals, even if it means sacrificing their fiery love affair. Julio Hernández Cordón’s I PROMISE YOU ANARCHY dark and sexy thriller, is an uncharacteristic love story packed with a slew of jarring plot twists. (In Spanish with subtitles) –C.P.
