Franz lives in a high security, prison-like apartment complex with his wife and children. Franz senses threats gathering against him, threats that are mounting and that even his manic additional security measures may not deter. What are these dangers amassing about him? Who is behind them? Who has installed these surveillance cameras? And what is this door found behind peeling wallpaper? Franz retreats to the deepest part of his apartment, an area he calls The Burrow, which is the only place he feels safe. Here he plots and theorizes, filming his own record of events. As his fears mount, the very building around him begins decaying and strange people start prowling about. Is the real world unraveling and closing in for the kill, or is it his own mind? Based on an unfinished story by Franz Kafka, KAFKA'S THE BURROW brilliantly creates a visual and cerebral atmosphere of dread and isolation. Using Kafka's own words as narration, this is an enthralling nightmare of paranoia, societal decay, and murder. (In German with subtitles) –C.R.
