Kenneth is fresh out of prison and he’s not one to play games. He’s returned to his family, most notably his brother, Dave, for whom he took the fall. As Kenneth served the majority of a seven-year sentence, Dave walked free… and fell in love with Kenneth’s girlfriend. As you can imagine, having Kenneth back in the house has been a little tense. Prone to fighting at the drop of a hat, Kenneth brings bad luck and bad vibes wherever he goes—whether it’s at Dave’s job, in his home, or just out on the street. But when Kenneth is offered one last criminal enterprise and tries to bring Dave along with him, things really go downhill. An old-school sibling drama with new-school style, Robin Pront’s THE ARDENNES is an expertly constructed thriller, full of unpredictable characters with logical motivations. The expansive widescreen cinematography ups the drama as well as the scenery in innovative ways. (In Dutch and French with subtitles) –C.P.
