The Violators

Living in a Cheshire housing estate has given 15-year-old Shelly a ferocious will to survive. And she will need it. Her abusive father, whom she and her brothers testified against, is being paroled. Raising her youngest brother has fallen exclusively on her, and petty theft helps pay the bills. When Finnegan, a local crime boss, becomes obsessed with her, he offers Shelly all the things she longs for. Simultaneously, she is befriended by Rachel, a strange young girl from an affluent area who is fixated on Shelly and her plight. Both want to be Shelly's savior and possess her for themselves. Shelly knows the costs of accepting either offer, but time is growing short. Finnegan is becoming increasingly desperate and devious in his efforts to seduce her. Rachel now seems to be following her everywhere. As the decisive moment arrives for Shelly, events in THE VIOLATORS take another unexpected and shocking turn. Will they crush her spirit, or have the streets forged a will strong enough to triumph over the unthinkable? –C.R.
