Like many 12-year-old boys, Fido is disgruntled and sleepy. One day he falls asleep on the train and wakes up in a strange world of human-like animals. Mistaken for a monkey by the locals, Fido attends the gigantic Amazing Power Show, which features a clever kitty named Barkley as its MC. Lucas, a human dictator, maintains control over the naïve animals by displaying his strength in endless shows. He uses magic to maintain a strong military presence, telling them they need it to fend off an unseen enemy. Fido and Barkley discover Lucas is a fraud who uses tricks and technology to retain power. After a captive tiger mom teaches Fido the value of families, both animal and human, he decides to lead rather than follow. While helping his friends throw off their chains, he exposes the truth. A symphonic score complements the vivid animation in BARKLEY, an imaginative tale that shows us the importance of standing together against tricky tyrants. (In Mandarin with subtitles) —B.B.
