Scenarios USA is a national nonprofit organization that uses writing and film to foster youth leadership, advocacy, and self-expression in students across the country with a focus on marginalized populations and underserved communities. This year’s SCENARIOS USA program will include the screening of two new films and behind-the-scenes footage.
Split Persona (Cleveland) is the story of two sisters struggling to balance the pressures of school and home while their mother deals with managing her depression and parenting. “Split Persona” was written by a high school student in response to the Scenarios USA REAL DEAL curriculum and writing contest about issues very close to her personal experiences. Mayraleeh Nelson is currently a Senior at Facing History New Tech. Directed by Bradley Rust Gray.
Cut In Half is a story of two Muslim sisters and their family as they experience and cope with the Leukemia diagnosis of Layla, the eldest daughter, and her decisions about life and death. “Cut In Half” was written by a high school student in response to the Scenarios USA REAL DEAL curriculum and writing contest about issues very close to her personal experiences. Leen Shumman is currently a junior at BCS in Brooklyn, New York. Directed by Susan Seidelman.
