Run Time: 110 minutes
As the son of a beloved cleric in the Muslim community in Melbourne, Australia, Ali is under extreme pressure to live up to his father’s revered reputation. In a well-meaning attempt to impress his family (and to prove his rivals wrong), Ali tells one big lie, which leads to a series of unfortunate, yet amusing, events that quickly spiral out of control. ALI’S WEDDING is the classic story of a young man caught between following his heart and making his father proud, mixed with the complexities of being a Muslim in Australia. Interweaving love triangles, accidental engagements, cultural divides, and a musical about Saddam Hussein, this charming romantic comedy is truly one of a kind. Hilarious and heartwarming, ALI’S WEDDING is based on the incredible real-life story adapted from the memoir Good Muslim Boy, written by Osamah Sami, who plays himself in the film.
