Run Time: 102 minutes
In the beginning, Paz’s relationship with Cesar is passionate and fast-paced, always moving and expanding in a way that feeds her restless spirit. Their connection is immediate, exceptional, and undeniable. But when their romantic liaison inevitably becomes more stable, the stillness becomes unbearable for Paz. Their beautifully simple life together begins to sour, leaving Paz feeling empty and unsettled. Her creativity is stifled and, as an emerging photographer, her work suffers and contracts. The situation is compounded when Paz discovers she is pregnant—something that was never part of her plan, but something Cesar always wanted. While she struggles with conflicting emotions and guilt, Paz dreams of freedom and escape in the open ocean, and eventually she leaves her family to find it. PLONGER is an exquisite, free-flowing film that explores deep love, unrelenting desire, and the mysterious yearnings of the human soul. (In English, French, and Spanish with subtitles) —G.S.
