Three jurors select winners of the awards listed below.
The shorts are screened and the filmmakers are recognized during this special program. Each award is accompanied by a $1,000 cash prize.
Donna Dabbs – Donna Dabbs is the Director of the Cuyahoga Small Business Development Center (CSBDC) at the Urban League of Greater Cleveland, where she helps entrepreneurs build profitable and sustainable businesses. Donna also serves as Executive Director of the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival (GCUFF) and is vice president of the Society of Urban Professionals (SOUP, Inc.), a networking organization that provides event planning and marketing advice to local professionals. In addition to her professional pursuits, Donna is active in the community and currently serves on the board and advisory committee of several local organizations including Karamu House.
Robert Jaquay – Robert Jaquay has served as Associate Director of the George Gund Foundation since 1996. For over 40 years, Bob's career has been devoted to improving Cleveland's economy and neighborhoods. His wife Sarah introduced him to the Festival at the Cedar Lee Theatre in 1981. Bob has been a devoted fan of the Festival ever since.
Nancy Mendez – Nancy Mendez is the Associate Vice President of Community Impact at the United Way of Greater Cleveland. She is responsible for ensuring an effective allocation process and grants management. Nancy is also responsible for developing and managing the approach for development, implementation, and evaluation of community programs and services. Nancy previously worked as the Program Director for the Center for Minority Public Health of Case Western Reserve University, which focused on community-based research. The research examined issues relating to systemic poverty, drug use, HIV, and mental illness within minority populations living in Greater Cleveland, San Diego, California, and Puerto Rico.

A Kids Jury, consisting of three children ages 9-11, will determine the winner of the Best Family Short Award.
