Synesthesia can manifest itself in a variety of ways. For the music obsessed Alexis, very specific sounds can cause blinding bursts of colors and a sense of euphoria unlike anything she’s ever felt. Although the condition was triggered by her parents’ brutal murder, Alexis has been chasing the high ever since she experienced that fateful night. Now an experimental musician and audio engineer, Alexis blends pleasure and pain by capturing sounds of BDSM and animals being slaughtered, but they just don’t do the trick. After a deadly accident recreates the intoxicating sensation, she discovers only one thing will satiate her: the sound of bone-crushing violence. Expanding upon his startling horror short “Conductor,” Alex Noyer’s SOUND OF VIOLENCE is packed with intricate contraptions and blood-soaked gore reminiscent of splatter classics such as “Saw” and “Scanners.” Amongst a swirling cacophony of emotions, colors, and death, Alexis is a one-of-a-kind serial killer unyielding in her quest to make a truly killer beat. — D.O.
